It was a moment of one-take magic with the Collective Unconscious house band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam Hammer\u2019s \u201cThe Love You Take\u201d is the first single from the \u201cSimple Songs\u201d project and was recorded live at the Pioneer Place on Fifth Theatre in front of a sold-out audience for 88.1 FM KVSC\u2019s Granite City Radio Theatre program. It was a moment of one-take magic with the Collective Unconscious house band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dyr_sNavLcE\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the song was written and intended to be a studio recording for \u201cSimple Songs,\u201d the live version begged to be released for its spontaneity and world-class musicianship. So here it is, in all its simplicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis project is taking me back to basics with songs that have a simple structure \u2013 \u2018Simple Songs\u2019 \u2013 providing a soundscape for storytelling,\u201d Hammer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Love You Take\u201d was demoed with just guitar, bass and organ. But during soundcheck for Granite City Radio Theatre, Hammer and the house band decided to add drums and bring Muggsy Lauer\u2019s ethereal electric guitar higher in the mix. During the live broadcast, they went for it having only run through the song a couple times.
