The soundscape spans from somber tones to acoustic rockabilly, a dash of twang, modern folk and blues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBroken Like You\u201d opens with \u201cStarshine,\u201d a catchy ditty that lets listeners know it\u2019s okay to be in a dark place sometimes, but still sparkles with a glimmer of hope courtesy of Maurer\u2019s piano. From there, the disc goes on a rollercoaster of emotions and familiar sonic spaces. Songs like \u201cHero Down,\u201d \u201cWind-Up Heart\u201d and \u201cScared Alive\u201d set a intimate tone while \u201cWalking Home (Alone)\u201d kicks it up a notch with some acoustic rockabilly. \u201cScars for Diamonds\u201d and \u201cNew Day\u201d let the cello do some talking while the title track brings a dash of the blues and \u201cCottonwood Waltz\u201d makes room for sidestepping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBroken Like You,\u201d stands apart from the 2011 Adam Hammer &amp; the Impact \u201cLet It Burn\u201d EP, which focused on Hammer\u2019s \u201cblack and blues\u201d sound.
